Bloomington, Indiana — Tree Martin Lucas, the most experienced and qualified candidate for Monroe

County Clerk announced her candidacy today. A Democrat with nearly eight years of hands-on service

inside the Monroe County Clerk’s Office, Lucas offers unmatched institutional knowledge and a proven

record of administering elections and office operations at the highest level.

“I am running for Clerk because I know this office inside and out,” Lucas said. “I have done the work,

led under pressure, and ensured Monroe County voters had elections they could trust.”

Qualifications & Experience

Tree Martin Lucas brings nearly eight years of direct, hands-on experience in the Monroe County

Clerk’s Office — experience that uniquely prepares her to serve as Clerk from her first day in office.

She began her service as Election Supervisor, a role she held for over a year, directly managing

elections, overseeing voter registration processes, and ensuring strict compliance with Indiana election

law. Based on her performance and leadership, she was appointed Chief Deputy Clerk, where she

served the community for more than six and a half years and became the office’s senior operational

leader.

During her tenure as Chief Deputy Clerk, Tree Martin Lucas was required to conduct an election while

continuing to fulfill all of her responsibilities as Chief Deputy, during a period when the county was

without an Election Supervisor. In addition to managing the daily operations of the Clerk’s Office, she

oversaw election administration and the Voter Registration Office simultaneously.

Balancing these dual responsibilities required deep knowledge of election law, strong organizational

leadership, and steady decision-making. Tree successfully managed both roles, ensuring continuity of

operations and delivering an election that Monroe County voters knew they could trust.
