Peter Iversen Files for Re-Election to Monroe County Council District 1

Peter Iversen, President Pro Tempore of the Monroe County Council,

filed for re-election to represent District 1, a position he has held since 2019.

Councilmember Iversen's leadership is guided by three principles: integrity in delivering

ethical, transparent governance; resilience in maintaining Monroe County's financial

stability despite restrictive state legislation; and progressive values that support working

households and marginalized communities.

Record of Achievement

As President Pro Tempore, Iversen has secured landmark accomplishments including

making Monroe County the first in Indiana to adopt a Climate Resilience Plan, championing

funding for the Monroe Convention Center expansion, and raising the county's minimum

wage to $20 per hour with retention bonuses and inflation-adjusted cost-of-living

increases.

He founded the Justice Fiscal Advisory Committee to advance community-centered public

safety, secured over $1 million annually for road maintenance, and directed targeted

investments to keep residents housed. He is a strong advocate for social justice, elevating

voices of those experiencing homelessness.

Accessible Leadership

"I work for the people of District 1, and I want to hear from you," said Iversen. Residents can

connect at http://PeterIversen.org to schedule meetings or send messages, and follow him

on YouTube, Threads, Instagram, and Facebook.

Iversen holds a master's degree from IU's O'Neill School and lives on Bloomington's east

side with his wife Leah, a mental health therapist, their two daughters, two dogs, and a cat.
