Dear Central Committee Members,

This letter serves as your official notice and call to caucus to fill vacancies in the office of Monroe County Democratic Party Chair. Pursuant to Indiana Code and Indiana Democratic Party rules, the Party chair will provide notice to the Central Committee within 10 days of the resignation. Chairwoman Jennifer Crossley resigned her position effective 12/24/2021.

The Vacancy Caucus will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Due to the rise of COVID-19 cases in the community, the Party is investigating the best venue and manner by which this caucus will be conducted, in consultation with state and district leadership. A subsequent notice of the location of the caucus will be provided to you via email in the coming weeks.

All elected and appointed Precinct Committee Persons (Chairs) and Precinct Vice Committeepersons (Vice Chairs) serving in the Party’s Central Committee, who held their office prior to December 23, 2021, are eligible to vote for Party Chair. The current Central Committee is locked for this caucus, and no further appointments may be made until the election of a new Chair has occurred.

To run for this position, candidates must reside in Monroe County. Candidates must notice Party Secretary Ashley Pirani ([email protected]) within 72 hours before the caucus (Thursday, January 20 at 2PM ET) and provide a candidate statement.  No proxies are permitted as the full Committee are eligible voters.
