Statement Responding to Congressman Hollingsworth's Recent Interview:

"It is our duty to use our platform to speak up when our elected officials are acting counter to our best interests and our safety. During an interview on WIBC Congressman Trey Hollingsworth stated that sending Americans back to work was not only the wise decision but also the less evil option. These statements were patronizing and naively simplistic. They undermine the restrictions Governor Holcomb has deemed necessary and ignore his own responsibilities. Congressman Hollingsworth should have been using his powers as a Federal official to ensure that his constituents were prepared for and protected from the pandemic and its economic fallout. Instead the Congressman has been dragging his feet on the much needed forth bailout bill while suggesting it’s time to open everything back up. To suggest we’re anywhere close to going back to normal before the bare minimum of having enough protective gear for our essential workers or the ability for widespread testing is irresponsible and truly puts the Congressman’s top priorities in full view. Our district deserves a leader who will stand up and do what’s right especially during unprecedented times. Hollingsworth’s comments show that he is not on the side of the Hoosiers he took an oath to serve, we must do better, and vote him out in November."

The City of Bloomington Office of the City Clerk is accepting applications to fill vacated positions on several of the city’s commissions. Some of these vacancies, and the date the City Clerk’s office sent out press releases soliciting applicants, are listed below:

Commission on the Status of Women (10/18/19)

Parking Commission (3/26/19, for a merchant located near metered parking)

Parking Commission (3/5/19, for a resident within a permit parking zone)
