South Bend Mayor, Pete Buttigieg to Keynote Local Democratic Fundraiser
Bloomington—South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg will speak to Monroe County Democrats at the Party’s annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner on Thursday, October 1 at the Bloomington-Monroe County Convention Center.
Mayor Buttigieg made headlines earlier this summer when he came out as the first openly gay executive in the State of Indiana. Buttigieg also spent seven months of his first term serving as a naval officer in Afghanistan.
Local Democrats say that they invited Mayor Buttigieg not only for his national reputation, but also for his efforts to tackle the problems housing and blight in South Bend, while keeping the City on strong financial footing. “Mayor Pete is embodies the very spirit of public service”, said Monroe County Democratic Party Chairman, Mark Fraley. “His leadership in South Bend is an inspiration to Democrats across the state of Indiana and the nation as a whole”
The Jefferson Jackson Dinner will be held at the Bloomington – Monroe County Convention Center on Thursday October 1st. There will be a social hour beginning at 6pm with the program and dinner commencing at 7pm. Tickets are $50 and $35 for students. Tickets can be purchased online at: http://www.monroedems.org/jj_dinner_2015. The event is open to the public. For more information or questions please contact [email protected]
