We are fortunate to have many qualified candidates in the primary. However, one candidate for Monroe County Commissioner, Amanda Barge, stands out as the fresh face we need for community leadership. As a citizen eager to learn how government runs, Amanda has regularly participated in commissioner meetings and staff time. While she recognizes the value of current systems, she is considerate in her suggestions for how things could be better. Amanda promises to increase collaboration between the city and county to improve government efficiency, and to use her professional expertise in counseling and as a successful business owner to improve the range of executive and administrative functions within the commissioners' role.
