Amanda is a lifelong resident of Monroe County, where she is raising her family and running a successful practice as a counselor. She is deeply involved in our community, where she volunteers for her children’s school libraries and has assumed leadership roles in a number of Democratic organizations.

I had the pleasure of working with Amanda as co-president of the Friends of Sophia Travis Memorial Fund, which raised money to install the Women in Government plaza on the Monroe County Courthouse square.

Amanda was tenacious, organized and respectful in her leadership of the project, as well as in her dealings with the community and the board of commissioners. I was profoundly impressed by her commitment to preserving the distinctive spirit of Monroe County, honoring the historic character of the courthouse square and encouraging the full participation of women in government.

Amanda will approach county government with a fresh perspective and use her skills to advocate for the health and welfare of the citizens of Monroe County. My vote is for Amanda Barge for county commissioner.
