Ryan Cobine is seeking election to the district 2 Monroe County Council seat. "I'm excited at the prospect of helping Monroe County government serve the people," Cobine said. "With all the constraints and complexity of county government it is crucial to keep the Council's process of appropriating funds open and collaborative". "A key budget priority", said Cobine, "will be to make sure county government departments are supported so they can adapt to all the evolving expectations citizens have around sustainability and environmental changes--from extreme weather to I-69".
Cobine is currently serving an appointed term on the City of Bloomington Traffic Commission. He completed the Bloomington Citizen's Academy in 2013, and has volunteered with two school transportation safety groups.
Employed at Indiana University's Pervasive Technology Institute where he analyzes research grant data, he has worked in information technology at IU in several positions since 1995. He has also been the part time canine handler for his spouse's canine bed bug inspection business, which has operated in Indiana since 2011.
Cobine is a lifetime Monroe County resident, who was "raised in the Monroe County/Bloomington Urbanizing Area". He lives on the south side of Bloomington with his spouse, Carol, and three children.
