Local Democrats have started a new organization to help garner party support from residents living in western Monroe County.
The Richland-Bean Blossom Democrats will meet at the Monroe County Public Library Ellettsville branch on Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. In a press release, Bean Blossom Township Trustee Pam Cook said the group is a “much needed effort to build on the Democratic message of good jobs, fair pay, and responsive government.”
The group will work to register voters, recruit candidates and organize local Democrats’ participation at the Stinesville Quarry and Monroe County Fall festivals. In addition, as part of a kick-off event for the new organization, the group will have a Labor Day picnic on September 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Flatwoods Park in Ellettsville. It is open and free to the public.
“We are thrilled that Democrats are organizing locally in Richland and Bean Blossom townships,” said Chariman of the Monroe County Democratic Party Mark Fraley in a release. “This effort will be crucial to building our party and to continue moving Monroe County in the right direction.”
Those interested in getting involved with the group can do so by contacting Judy Bolick, an Ellettsville resident and one of the group’s organizers, at 812-93505495 or email@example.com.
“I am very excited to work within our community to advance the goals of the Democratic Party in our community,” Bolick said.
